Avoiding Plagiarism

Plagiarism is when you use someone else’s thoughts or ideas without giving them proper acknowledgement or reference.

It is considered plagiarism when an individual:

  • submits an assignment as their own that another person has completed
  • shares quiz/test questions or answers or written assignments with another student
  • uses information, text, artwork, graphics or other material from any print or electronic source, and presents it as their own
  • quotes or uses material from a source without acknowledgement
  • cuts and pastes information from a source without referencing it
  • resubmits their own work without editing or changing it
