Grammarly

Grammarly is an online spelling and grammar checker and revision support tool. Users can upload texts to Grammarly and receive immediate instructional feedback on grammar, punctuation and spelling.

You may like to explore a free version of this revision tool at www.grammarly.com. Please note that the free version only works in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari browsers. When you open the webpage with one of these browsers, it will ask you to add the Grammarly extension to your browser. When the extension is added, follow the on-screen prompts, then select the Free Grammarly version and you are set to upload your documents for review.

If you find the free version of Grammarly useful, you may wish to purchase a premium subscription. The premium version checks an additional 150 grammar points and provides plagiarism detection, vocabulary enhancement suggestions, and a contextual spelling feature. It also provides more detailed explanation of each grammar issue which often includes examples of both correct and incorrect usages. The premium version also asks users to select a paper type, such as essay, presentation or blog to improve the accuracy of the feedback. We recommend that you first try the free version of Grammarly which has fewer features, but gives a good indication what Grammarly can do. If you like it and want to try the premium.

Unfortunately, Grammarly has discontinued its student discount for premium accounts.  This means ACAP students will no longer be able to purchase Grammarly Premium at a discounted rate. Students are still able to access the free version of Grammarly at no cost.

Important note: Grammarly uses an auto renewal system here is how to turn-off the auto-renewal in your account settings. If you do not turn off the rolling subscription Grammarly will continue to deduct your premium subscription amount from your nominated credit card each cycle (monthly, quarterly, or annually). We highly recommend you disable this as soon as you can (here is how).
